"What kind of venue combines dance pieces performed to music by Crash Worship and Miles Davis, 16mm short films by Bryan Keith, and a performance by artist James Dalton? The Ground Level Dance Company's upcoming multimedia Short Suite Show (say that five times fast) has all of the above and then some. The whole, a distinctly collaborative effort by a handful of young local artists, is not a hit-you-over-the-head kind of abrasion as much as it is a refreshingly interpretive Dallas anomaly. The organizers and stars of the event, an all-female dance troupe made up of CoCo Loupe, Shanon Leyrer, and Angela Sharp, combine their well-rounded dance backgrounds with impressively original moves, which to borrow Tom Waits' words, are "as sharp as a razor and soft as a prayer."
