"Dallas Dance Gathering, the longest-running choreographer's showcase in this area, celebrates its 11th anniversary this weekend at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing & Visual Arts with another crazy-quilt concert of dancers, choreographers, and styles. One of the strangest, and most delightful, pieces on the program is CoCo Loupe-Guidroz's Backs and Bellies, a collaboration with composer Frank Lacey. The dance is a marriage of movement and beat. Three men and three women use their bodies as percussion instruments, employing hands, knees, feet and bare bellies to create a slap-happy riff, joyfully redefining the term "dance music."
